Summary -

In this three-day intermediate workshop, students will take part in a step-by-step painting demonstration, and will have the chance to recreate each step in their own painting. After 30 minutes of demonstration, students will have approximately 45 minutes of painting time, during which Blair will personally instruct and advise each student on their efforts. Each day of the workshop will cover a unique aspect of Blair’s direct painting method – Reflection and Refraction address the technique of painting metal and glass, respectively, and will be demonstrated within the context of a simple, three-object still life. Additional objects would be something like pieces of fruit, or folded cloth.

Everyone, Blair included, will work from a high-resolution printed photograph of the subject matter (which he will provide), to avoid awkward viewing angles of one setup and to streamline the entire painting process. Students can also take the photo home with them, to continue working on their painting, should they want to do so.
